While walleye and muskie receive much of the attention, there is more to be had for those seeking other species.
In particular, excellent fishing opportunities exist for smallmouth bass and pike.
June is the best month for smallmouth action. Casting crankbaits, spinners and plastics to rock rubble shorelines is a safe bet. Using slip-bobbers with leaches in similar locations is another fun way to catch bass. The average size bass runs at an impressive 17-inches with the chance at bass passing the 20-inch mark.
Pike are abundant on Lac Seul from one end of the lake to the next. Casting spoons, spinnerbaits or plugs to weed beds is guaranteed to produce action. Many of the biggest pike of the year are caught in May when the water is still cool and the big fish are feeding after the spawn.
